On October 15, 2020, Fayemi commissioned the ultra-modern Oja Oba Market (Erekesan Market) in Ado-Ekiti as part of activities marking his second year in office. The market project was first conceptualised in 2012 during Fayemi's first tenure. Construction was started by the previous administration (Governor Ayodele Fayose) and was at about 70% completion level when Fayemi returned to office. Fayemi completed the remaining work, retaining the same contractor engaged by his predecessor.

The ultra-modern market boasts:

  • 234 open shops
  • 738 lock-up shops
  • Two restaurants
  • Two banking halls
  • Two warehouses
  • A police post
  • A clinic
  • An expansive parking lot

Governor Fayemi urged traders displaying wares on the roadside to move into the new market to decongest roads and ensure their safety.
