In his New Year broadcast on January 1, 2021, Governor Fayemi announced that The new year will witness the launch of our Safe City project, as well as other initiatives aimed at boosting security and safety in the state. This was followed up with the 2021 budget setting aside N1.4 billion for Amotekun and other security initiatives. The Safe City project included installation of CCTV cameras across Ado-Ekiti, emergency call boxes, and a central monitoring hub.

In August 2021, the Special Adviser on Security Matters confirmed that Ekiti would take delivery of high-tech drones to tackle kidnapping and other crimes. The drones were deployed to flashpoints across the state. The Safe City project also included the Emergency Communication System (112 call centre), allowing residents to report security incidents immediately. The Amotekun Corps was strengthened with vehicles, communication equipment, and training.
